Wonders Still the World Shall Witness
Who knows, green structures are just being developed. What wonders will come next, are beyond me. Battlestar Galactica (Sci fi) is repairing their hull with a biologically alive goop.
I am carrying around in the real world, a phaser/ communicator (minus the weapon) that I saw first in Star Treck. My son is carrying around a handheld with more power yet. All of these wonders have a communication infrastructure (cell towers); on Star Treck, the things worked on unoccupied planets. Still, wonderment is wonderment (though son#2 says the EM’s are unhealthy).
Where did our new technology come from, pulled from the interstesis, cracks in the universe. Engineers and dreamers worked together and in competition. (Deity involvement, possible, belief not required).
Learning to use the new technology is hard for me. Now I understand how my grandmother felt adapting to the auto. Human’s made a lot of changes in the world when we opened up the door to auto use: road building, consumption like the world had not seen before, the ability to move around.
My Grandma, who was born in the 19th century, used to fly to California to visit with her son and their family. I recall driving her to the airport and watching her plane take off. We stood on the observation deck, so new and wondrous was aviation, we all found flight fascinating. They have closed those observation decks, too bad. My Grandmother was born before cars and planes were invented, adopting to the new technology must have been a streach for her. She didn’t mention it, though, I suppose that would have been too much like complaining.
I endeavor to keep up with changes, Grandma was a good role model. She always bought flight insurance from a kiosk at the airport, though.
